The Government is Ready to Receive Recommendations on Media Service Act Amendments: President Samia says

When asked if the closure of the media would be contingent on one leader’s favor or if there is a mechanism in place to ensure that they functioned as required by the procedures, President Samia stated that the media would operate following the law.

President Samia stated in an exclusive interview with DW, “If the media violates the law, they are barred from operating; this is why the law exists. No country has a media outlet that does whatever it wants without regard for the law.”

He stated that the government is ready to receive proposals for changes to the Media Service Act of 2016, some of which have been criticized as oppressive.
